How it works

Here’s what our project will look like…

Our project will be contained within a 3-week period to ensure the website is completed in a timely manner. Feedback from you on the website design will be due within 24 hours (to encourage decisiveness 😊).

  • Once you sign up we’ll send you a contract and invoice to confirm your slot (invoice must be paid in full to get started). Then, you have homework!

    We’ll ask you to fill out our Personal Brand Strategy Worksheet that asks questions about your career goals, accomplishments, key skills, personal values, and more. We’ll also ask you to send us a Pinterest board to help visualize what your website should look like, plus examples of other websites you like for inspo.

    Using our strategy documents as a guide, you’ll write first draft website copy following our prompts and structure. You’ll also upload your website images.

  • We’ll schedule a 60-minute live coaching session via Zoom, where we’ll review your strategy worksheets, Pinterest board, and draft website content.

    During the session we’ll also discuss your overall personal brand strategy and how it relates to your career goals, and we’ll provide suggestions on how to improve your website copy.

    Afterwards, you’ll have the rest of the week to finalize your website copy with our feedback.

  • We’ll design a mockup of your homepage design, with 1 round for revisions.

    Then, we’ll develop your website in Squarespace, again with 1 round of revisions.

    Once the website is complete, we’ll send you a video with instructions on how to launch, as well as how to maintain & edit your website however you desire.

  • We’ll send you worksheets & templates that will help you get everything in order, but here’s what you should be prepared to provide:

    • Insight into your career goals, what career success means to you, and a basic understanding of how you need to position yourself to achieve those goals

    • An understanding of key skills, experiences, achievements, and values that you want to highlight

    • Insight into your career business’s mission, values, services, and identity, as well as an understanding of what sets you apart from competitors

    • A current resume and a 1-sentence overview of your primary responsibilities/achievements you want to highlight from each position

    • An understanding of who you want to visit your website (your target audience(s))

    • A preliminary vision for your website aesthetic (overall vibe, colors, etc)

    • A list or Pinterest board of website/brand inspiration

    • Draft copy for your website (our worksheets & templates will help you write this)

    • Photos of you, and any other imagery you want to include

    • A commitment to completing all worksheets within 1 week, and delivering website feedback within 24 hours.

  • Yes, you will write everything yourself. After all, there’s no one better to tell your story than you!

    But don’t stress! We’ll provide all of the resources you need to draft your own copy based on the website structure that we have developed.

    We will provide guidance and suggestions on how to improve your website copy through our 1:1 coaching call, so you will be supported throughout the process.

  • Since this is a personal website, we do recommend having at least one photo of you on your website because it helps to build a personal connection. But, depending on your line of work, we can be convinced otherwise if you are opposed.

    If you want photos of yourself on your website, we’ll need them before we begin the project.

    If you’re located in LA, we can take photos for you as a project add-on!

    If you’re outside of LA or prefer to find your own photographer, we’re happy to provide guidance on a successful photoshoot.

  • Because this is a 1-page website, we do not currently include portfolios in this custom design service.

    Squarespace is very user-friendly and has many built-in templates, so you will likely find that you can easily add your own portfolio pages based on the existing design.

    If you would like us to custom design a portfolio for you, let us know and we can add extra pages for an additional fee.

  • To publish your website you’ll need both a Squarespace account subscription and a domain name.

    Squarespace’s most basic Personal Plan will likely be sufficient for your website, which costs $192 for a full year subscription or $23/month for a monthly subscription. If you choose annual payments, you’ll have access to a 20% discount on your first year through my Squarespace Circle membership.

    You can purchase a domain name through Squarespace if you don’t have one already. Most basic domains are $20/year (or $40+/year for more custom domains). Your first yearly domain subscription through Squarespace is free!

    In short, if you choose annual payments, you can expect to pay Squarespace about $154 to launch your site.

  • Yup! You can either pay in full prior to the project start date, or pay in 2 automatic monthly installments. Please see above for current pricing.

  • The short answer is yes. It is important for us that this service be accessible to those who could really benefit from it. In the coming months we will be exploring sliding scale pricing and scholarship options. Please reach out if that’s something you’re interested in.

  • The Career Journey package was designed specifically for individuals looking to establish their personal brands online. The worksheets & templates we use during this process are specifically designed for this purpose.

    1-page websites that fall outside of this scope — for example, to sell a service or product, or to promote a business — won’t fit within this particular package.

    We’re happy to create a website for your biz, though! You may be interested in our Website in One Week service, which gets you a customized 3-4 page website on an accelerated timeline.

    Otherwise, reach out and let us know what you’re looking for, and we’ll put together custom pricing for you.

  • The project is limited to a 3-week timeframe.

    We’ve chosen 3 weeks because it’s enough time for us both to complete all required tasks without being too stressed — but it’s also a short enough period that it requires us to be decisive and move forward.

    In order to stick to this timeline, we expect you to return worksheets back to us within week 1, and provide feedback on all website deliverables during week 3 within 24 hours.

    We’ll go over the deadlines with you before we begin to make sure you’ll know exactly what needs to be delivered and by when, and that you have the space in your schedule to meet them.

    If your feedback is delayed or if extra revisions are requested (we include one revision per design phase) and the timeline is extended as a result, we will take the website as far as we can get it within the 3-week timeframe.

  • We usually require 2-3 weeks notice to ensure that we can fit the project in our schedule.

    The sooner we get started, the sooner you’ll have a fancy new website to show off!
